SEO Plugins & Settings Your WordPress Site Needs To Be Using. – 23. January, 2012

WordPress, once configured properly, can be a tremendous tool to help further your organic SEO efforts.  Here are a few core SEO plugins AND settings that your WordPress enabled web site needs to be using in order to thrive in the search engines:

Initial Configuration Tips

1.) Permalinks.
When you install WordPress right out of the box, you need to change the ‘permalink’ structure. QUALITY Clicks Versus Clicks. – 31. August, 2011

Is your SEO guy focused on how many clicks they can drive to your web site or how many Quality clicks they can drive to your web site?  A click is a click, a quality click is speaking to a client and addressing their needs.

A quality click comes from a quality prospect who typed in or addressed a particular problem in Google and landed on your web site because your site actually can solve that prospects problems. Obviously, the more problems that are solved, the more likely that website visitor is to buy your goods or services.  In the SEO world, quality trumps quantity all day long.

Should You Outsource Your SEO Overseas? – 27. June, 2011

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t receive an invitation to partner with an offshore SEO company. They call, they spam, they try every trick in the book to try and get me to send them some of our SEO work. But here’s the thing: I never will. Here’s a few reasons why:

1.) I hate being spammed. Sorry, this is strike 1.
2.) I hate being spoofed. Oftentimes, the offshore companies spoof a local Orlando number so that I think they are local and will call them back.
3.) They cannot compose a complete grammatically correct sentence. When I get spam that is phrased like “We are global leader in SEO and need like partner with your company to make company and customer happy in google” I’m not feeling good about their content generation capabilities.

3 Ways To Get Google’s Attention. – 9. June, 2011

I was speaking with a prospect fairly recently who let me know that their web site SEO was just fine. Just fine indeed, they had jammed some keywords in their copy, they started a Facebook page, they had even written two blog posts already. They wrote those blog posts 1 year ago. They stuffed those keywords in 6 months ago. They have 3 people following them on their facebook page, they had not updated their web site in 6 months. The key question they had for me was, why isn’t my web site ranking in Google?

The answer is simple. They launched their web site and walked away. They may have gone through the right motions initially, but ultimately, they waited on Google to digest and instantly shower their web site with amazing organic SEO rankings. It didn’t happen.

Quick SEO Tip : Web Site Navigation & Images – 23. February, 2011

One of the ultimate goals of SEO is to get Google to crawl each and every page of your web site, so it is really critical that we make that very easy for Google to do.   One of the easiest ways is to make your web site’s navigation SEO friendly.

The problem. A lot of web designers will use graphic images in the navigation of the web site and simply add a URL when clicked to get to that respective page.  The problem with this technique is that Google does not follow images, so it can’t really get to the page in question in order to crawl and index it (at least not easily.).
