Is your website search engine friendly? Some things to consider while building a web site that is search engine friendly:
.) Language : Make certain that your site is written in a language Intelligible to search engines: While asp, php and other database driven sites can be successful, Â search engine spiders are not that fond of urls such as the following : http://www.yoursite/library.php?id=888884443Â . Consider utilizing a mod re-write to keep those url’s more search engine friendly.
.) Content : I’ll say it again, content is king for the search engines. Make certain that your site contains AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL content geared towards your industry or product. Make sure that your content can be found easily on your site.
.) Link Structure : Another important consideration is the way that your site’s internal linking structure is setup: Be certain to add a site map, and make it easy for the search engines to find your links. Remember, if the google spider cannot find your links, neither can your prospects / customers.
.) Meta tags : This is quite possibly the most overlooked aspect of a site, think through the tags that you are placing in your metas, make certain that your meta tags are both relevant to your site and relevant to your prospects.Â
.) Spamming : Do not employ techniques such as cloaking, hidden text, hidden links, link farms, etc. Search engines do have the capability to determine such tactics and could result in your domain being banned. It’s not worth it.
