What do you think the most popular word spoken in English was in 2009? If you guessed Twitter, you nailed it. According to The Global Language Monitor, Twitter was number one followed by Obama, H1N1, Stimulus & Vampire. I’m personally not sure where the vampire comes into play, but I’m also not known for staying on top of all things relevant to the vampire community.
Is your company utilizing Twitter? All of the cool companies are using it to engage their prospects, to address customer service issues, to communicate Christmas specials for cyber Monday, to admit scandals, etc. If your company has not bought into the whole social media gig to help further your brand, we should talk. Social Media applications such as Twitter are becoming an essential form of communication. Will they be around for the long haul? My hunch is No. Something more simple will come along, something more revolutionary is being developed as I type.
