What is a blog?
Simply put, a blog can be related to a word processor, like MS Word or Corel Word Perfect. The difference, you compose online via an online interface and disseminating your information is much quicker. A blog can be used for personal reflection, for an online hobby community, as therapy (speaking your mind), or our most useful application, business / corporate communication. The purpose of a blog is to share with the world. The purpose of a blog is NOT to push products and services down someone else's throat.
Can I have one?
Yes, you most certainly may. On Target Web Solutions typically creates a blog with every new web design we create, but if you didn't get one, let us know. We'll have it setup in no time, please note, design fees may apply and setup time fees may apply.
How often should I blog?
Whenever the mood strikes you. We try and crank out three solid articles a week, but then again, we are kind of neurotic... Like all things, there is a balance. If you blog everyday, people may become desensitized to your blog, don't blog enough and you don't keep people coming back.
Search engines and your blog : BFF's!
Yes, search engines love blogs. Why you may ask? Blogs are a great source of content for a search engine spider. Search engines love fresh and relevant content, so the more that you produce, the more eager the spider is to come back and feast on your words. As you are composing your works of literary art, remember to utilize relevant keywords to your content that your target audience may use in a search engine.
Do I need to allow comments on my blog?
Heck no. Unfortunately, spammers have way too much time on their hands and love to use blogs to post information regarding their newest vitamins, various schemes and my personal favorite, nigerian lottery news. We can set your blog to not allow comments, or you can moderate the comments before they are even posted for the world to see.
What is this RSS thingy?
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. Basically, RSS gets the word out about your blog on the internet. People can 'subscribe' to your blog and get the newest articles delivered to their browser or a third party application like Google, Yahoo, etc. Go ahead and subsribe to our blog by clicking here, it'll make you feel good. Your blog from On Target Web Solutions will have one of these cool dealios built right in.
